Alicea is an incredible resource to anyone needing lactation support. Not only is she caring and compassionate but she listens to your challenges and provides effective tips, encouraging stories, and solutions tailored to you. My low milk supply was one of my major concerns as I’m returning to work in a few weeks and I depleted my frozen milk collection. Alicea fitted me for different flanges and within a couple of days my supply was back up and my freezer stocked again. Alicea was thoughtful and considerate with me and she was gentle with my daughter as well. My daughter has a congenital heart defect so our breastfeeding experience has been unique but Alicea knew a bit about kids with cardiac conditions which further solidified my confidence in her. Alicea was also extremely attentive. Even after we went over the 90 minute session (she was sure to address all of my questions!), she sent me the care plan that very evening and followed up a few days later to see how I was doing with her suggestions. I would recommend Alicea and Flourish Feeding Babies to anyone in the area who needs some guidance about breastfeeding or pumping. Alicea is a wealth of knowledge and provides the utmost service to her clients - you will definitely want her with you on your lactation journey!

Alicea is truly wonderful, kind, understanding, patient, very good at explaining things, and non-judgmental. I took her lactation course when I was 36 weeks pregnant, which I would recommend to anyone planning to breast feed to start to become familiar with the biology and terms, and then hired her to come to our home twice when I ran into some issues. We had to start supplementing with formula because I wasn't producing enough milk, and Alicea did not judge our choice. Having her come by to weigh the baby before and after feeding, to assess what was happening and why nursing was suddenly harder, and confirm that I did indeed have a low supply, was both extremely helpful and a relief. She put together a custom plan based on my goals that fit our family. There was no pressure to only nurse or nurse and pump. Alicea works with you to come up with a good plan so that everyone is happy and frustration is eliminated. She helps alleviate any concerns or feelings of "less than" a new mom may have, no matter the situation. She is obviously deeply knowledgeable and does a full assessment of both mom and baby to determine what, if anything, could be causing issues. I would recommend her to anyone looking for help with nursing or just to improve their nursing experience.

Alicea was absolutely fantastic! I was struggling through my breastfeeding journey at about 8 weeks realizing my sons latch may be poor causing me pain. I had reached out to Alicea and she was able to come to my house within 2 days! She discovered that my son may have some lip and tongue restrictions which may have been the reasoning for the pain while breastfeeding. She referred me to a pediatric dentist who then was able to confirm my son had both a tongue and lip tie. We then were able to get it released and Alicea was at our house the same day of the procedure ensuring our son was able to latch and wasn’t having any further issues. I am so grateful that I had reached out to her may weeks ago and didn’t ignore the issues I was experiencing. Now, my sons latched has improved and I am in way less pain! Her follow up notes and recommendations were simply amazing along the way. I was able to refer back to our sessions and follow her notes on positioning, pumping, exercises, etc. Thank you so much Alicea for helping us through our journey!

I reached out to Alicea after having Mastitis several times, and only two months or so into my breast-feeding journey, and almost ready to give up. I had met with a different lactation counselor before, and didn't feel I was listened to and honestly felt dismissed. This was the complete OPPOSITE of Alicea. One of the first things she said to me was one of encouragement, and I nearly cried from her understanding and empathy. She provided guidance and tips, along with compassion. I can't recommend Alicea enough. She was exactly what I needed as a FTM at a time where I almost gave up on nursing. I was crying at 4am one night, maybe not more than my 3 week old, when I sought her help. She instantly made me feel supported and more confident. All of her suggestions made a positive impact and made breast feeding much easier! She then helped me figure out that my daughter was tongue tied and recommended me to a wonderful specialist. She always follows up and reaches out to make sure everything is going well in between sessions and I appreciate the continued support. I cannot say enough amazing things about Alicea! After coming home from the hospital, we were having a very difficult time latching which was causing me an incredible amount of pain and discomfort, not to mention a hard time transitioning to being a mom for the first time.

I reached out, and after explaining how difficult things were, Alicea came to my house that day! (Also, as a new mom, it was a game changer to have her come to the house and not have to pack and figure out how to go somewhere with a newborn.) She quickly recognized a tongue tie and helped me find a doctor to have it released. Alicea helped us work through learning to latch after the release as well as a pumping schedule. On top of this, she also recognized my sons reflux seemed to be due to an allergy, when 2 pediatricians told us not to worry about his spitting up! Thank goodness she recognized this- as soon as we adjusted what he was eating, he was much less fussy. She listened to all of our concerns, always so responsive, so caring and so thoughtful. She always made me feel so comfortable and that I could ask her anything- in addition, I never felt judged for my questions or decisions.

Alicea literally helped me make it through the first few weeks and I don’t know what I would have done without her and her support! If you’re not sure if you need a lactation consultant, just call! There are always extra tips, tricks and tools which she can provide to make it easier.

“I was on the verge of quitting my attempt at breastfeeding when Alicea was able to give me advice and encouragement to get through a difficult initial period struggling with latch and supply. I had so many difficulties breastfeeding my first child that I wasn’t sure if it would be a hopeless cause, and cannot believe how much difference the help of an expert made in this process.
