Alicea Sabella BS, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant)

My journey to becoming an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) was guided by my personal experiences breastfeeding. Despite reading books about breastfeeding prior to giving birth, I quickly realized books didn’t cover it all. The value that a lactation professional can bring to a family’s infant feeding journey is transformative.

My goal is to give parents the evidence-based tools they need to feed their child the way they wish. Your goals are my goals. Exclusive breastfeeding, combo feeding, pumping, weaning assistance, re-lactation…..I am here for you through it all. Parenting is not always easy, but having a supportive and encouraging health care team that provides tools for your toolbox can make all the difference. My mission is to support and encourage you through all phases of your lactation journey.

I earned my Bachelors Degree in Health Science with a minor in Nutrition from James Madison University. I have completed over 94 hours of Lactation-specific coursework and received my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist credential upon completion in 2019. Following my coursework, I completed my clinical lactation internship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. During my clinical internship, I gained experience in the NICU, PICU, Postpartum unit as well as the outpatient Center for Breastfeeding. My internship ran through Covid-19 quarantines and protocols which enabled me to learn the highest standards of infectious disease precautions. I earned the credential of IBCLC in July of 2021.

I am an active member of the New Jersey Breastfeeding Coalition as well as the Monmouth/Ocean Breastfeeding Consortium. I am dedicated to actively pursuing continuing professional education.
